About Catherine

I first had counselling myself when I was in my 30’s, and it really helped me.  This inspired me to retrain as a counsellor, and I gained a Diploma in Integrative Psychodynamic Counselling from the internationally reputed training centre for psychotherapists, Metanoia Institute, in London. Integrative counsellors draw on theories about the mind, human development and needs, and how to help people with psychological issues, from across the many schools of psychotherapy. We are often drawn to this approach, because integration feels natural; we have a lot of personal experience of change and moving between cultures, and understand that there is more than one way to view life, and live.

I also attend professional development workshops and conferences. Topics have included our relationship with food and eating disorders; trauma and the body; LGBT sexuality; adolescents and risk; sibling relationships; infant development; autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and spirituality.

In addition to my private practice, I work for the affordable voluntary counselling service, Riverside Counselling, in Henley on Thames. I am also a member of the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain, and teach tai chi for mental health in Henley for the voluntary agency, Sport in Mind.
